Install the Windows agent

The Televane agent runs as a Windows service (ObservabilityAgent) and sends CPU, memory, disk, network and top-process metrics every 15 seconds. It connects outbound only and opens no ports.

Requirements

ItemRequirement
WindowsWindows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 or 2025, or Windows 10/11 — 64-bit (x64 or ARM64)
RightsA local Administrator account
NetworkOutbound HTTPS (TCP 443) to ingest.televane.com and portal.televane.com. No inbound ports.
ResourcesUp to 1 CPU core (typically under 1%), about 128 MB memory, up to 64 MB disk buffer
ClockSynchronised time (Windows Time service or your domain controller)

Check the network first

Test-NetConnection ingest.televane.com -Port 443

Expect TcpTestSucceeded : True. If not, allow outbound HTTPS to Televane in your firewall.

Install with one command

  1. In the portal open Add data, choose Windows, then Generate installation command and Copy command.
  2. On the server, open PowerShell as Administrator (right-click › Run as administrator).
  3. Paste the command and press Enter.

The command downloads the agent for your processor from portal.televane.com over TLS 1.2, installs it to C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\, restricts its data folder to SYSTEM and Administrators, enrolls it with your one-time token and starts the service. The last line reads Observability agent installed as service ObservabilityAgent and running.

The token in the command works once and expires after 15 minutes. If you see Enrollment failed, generate a new command.

Verify

Get-Service ObservabilityAgent
& "C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\observability-agent.exe" status
& "C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\observability-agent.exe" diagnose

The service should be Running and Automatic; diagnose checks DNS, TLS, the connection to Televane, the clock and the credential, and suggests a fix for anything that fails. The server appears under Hosts in the portal within a minute or two.

Manual installation

To review the package first, download https://portal.televane.com/downloads/televane-agent-windows-x64.zip (or -arm64.zip) and compare its SHA-256 with https://portal.televane.com/downloads/SHA256SUMS.txt:

(Get-FileHash .\televane-agent-windows-x64.zip -Algorithm SHA256).Hash
Expand-Archive .\televane-agent-windows-x64.zip -DestinationPath . -Force
Get-ChildItem . | Unblock-File
Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope Process -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Force
.\install.ps1 -Server https://ingest.televane.com -EnrollToken enr_YOUR_TOKEN

Collect the Windows Event Log (optional)

Create C:\ProgramData\ObservabilityAgent\agent.json, check it and restart the service:

$cfg = '{"version":1,"logs":{"windowsEventLog":{"channels":["System","Application"],"minLevel":"warning"}}}'
Set-Content C:\ProgramData\ObservabilityAgent\agent.json $cfg -Encoding ASCII
& "C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\observability-agent.exe" config check
Restart-Service ObservabilityAgent

minLevel is critical, error, warning or information. Add "Security" to collect security audit events.

Uninstall

$exe = "C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\observability-agent.exe"
& $exe service stop
& $exe service uninstall
Remove-Item "C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent", "C:\ProgramData\ObservabilityAgent" -Recurse -Force

Then remove the host on the Agents page in the portal to revoke its credential.

Troubleshooting

SymptomWhat to do
"Run this script from an elevated PowerShell"Open PowerShell with Run as administrator.
Enrollment failedThe token was used or expired — generate a new command.
Certificate or trust errorsA firewall inspects HTTPS. Exclude ingest.televane.com and portal.televane.com from inspection.
Host not visible after 5 minutesRun diagnose; it names the failing step and the fix.
Executable removed by antivirusAllow C:\Program Files\ObservabilityAgent\ and C:\ProgramData\ObservabilityAgent\.
