Database health and the queries behind it.

The Televane agent watches PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB every minute — connections, locks, throughput, replication lag and the statements that take the most time.

What is database monitoring?

Database monitoring tracks the health and workload of your databases: connections against the limit, locks and deadlocks, throughput, cache efficiency, replication lag and the queries that consume the most time. Most application slowdowns end at a database, so these numbers often explain an incident.

Televane monitors PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB through its agent, using a least-privilege monitoring account, and links the database calls in your traces to the slowest statements.

Get started in three steps

  1. Create a free account — Sign up at portal.televane.com. The Free plan needs no card, and new organizations can try Pro free for 14 days.
  2. Create a read-only monitoring user — Choose Databases under Add data. The portal shows the SQL for a least-privilege monitoring user; run it on your database.
  3. Install the agent with the database — Run the install command on a server that can reach the database. It asks for the monitoring password there, so the password never reaches Televane.

Databases: common questions

Which databases can Televane monitor?

PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, through the Televane agent.

What access does database monitoring need?

A least-privilege, read-only monitoring account. The password is typed on your server during install and kept in a protected file; it is never sent to Televane.

Can I see the slowest queries?

Yes. The 25 statements with the highest total time, normalised with values masked.
